Born under the sign of Aries to Ginger and Scot McCartney, in New York City on April 9, 1987, the Hollywood heartthrob Jesse A. McCartney was the oldest among two other siblings: his brother named Timothy Glover Mark McCartney and his sister, Lea Joyce McCartney.

The green-eyed, blonde guy developed his fondness in acting ever since age seven when he started performing in community theatre productions. At that early age, he performed some roles on and off Broadway. His passion led him into trying his fate on Hollywood, so he auditioned for a part in "The Six Sense," but he failed to get the role. A music lover he is, he joined his first singing group as a vocalist in 1997 called the Sugar Beats, which earned them a Grammy nomination for "How Sweet It Is". Afterwards, he auditioned for a pop group called Dream Street, under Edel Entertainment, and was successfully chosen among 500 other aspiring young singers. He stayed with the group for three and a half years with Matt Ballinger, Christopher Trousdale, Frankie J. Galasso, and Greg Raposo. Soon after, he received acting roles.

Aside from pursuing his acting and singing careers, Jesse also attended school. In June 22, 2005, he graduated from Ardsley High School, a public school in Ardsley, New York, a few blocks away from their home.

Also known as Jester, Jmac and Orange Boy broke up with girlfriend Katie Cassidy, daughter of fellow actor David Cassidy, in February 2005.
