Pua Magasiva was in Apia, Samoa in 1980. At age 2 he and his family moved to Wellington, New Zealand. Two of his brothers are in the film industry, one of them Robbie Magasiva, a well known actor. Pua started acting as a teenager, with Robbie as his inspiration.
After appearing in commericals and minor bits for TV, Pua's first major television role was in "Aroha", a six-part Maori-language show that first aried in 2001. He played Siva in the episode "Haka & Siva". Two years later, he landed the roles of the Red Power Ranger in "Power Rangers: Ninja Storm", and as Nurse Vinnie Kruse in "Shortland Street". He stayed on Shortland Street for over two years. In 2006, he was the title character in the comedy film "Sione's Wedding". By this time he had appeared in several Lift Plus commericals (a beverage brand in New Zealand), and in several theatre productions, such as "Two Days in Dream".
Recently he had a minor appearence in the horror film "30 Days of Night". Currently he is starring in the play "Where We Once Belonged".
